Does Gretsch sell pickups ?

Thanks for the info gentlemen. How does Seth Lover's humbucker design (what my Thinline has) compare with the TV Jones Classic (recommended for Fender Teles). I know I may be sounding a bit tiresome here but I'm thinking that I may not really "need" to attempt to improve what exists if it already borders so closely on that "Gretsch sound"

I'd start with getting a Gretsch guitar in order to get the Gretsch sound. A thin line tele with a Gibson style humbucker seems off the mark. If you think it borders on the Gretsch sound then your search is over and you saved yourself some money. Without hearing your guitar, I would suspect, that to my ears it would probably not sound like a Gretsch. The Gibson humbucker and the Gretsch Filtertron, while both humbuckers, sound very different. Don't expect that installing a different style pickup will transform your guitar into something it isn't. Puttin a Tele pickup in a les paul wont make it sound like a tele. There is more at work here than just the type of pickup.

There was a recent thread along these lines a couple of months back. I posted this link to a player who played a solid body Telecaster like guitar with Filtertrons and he got a great "Chet like" sound. He has several videos on Youtube. Here is a link to one of them. I hope this helps some with regard to the Telecaster question.

Mechanically, a SOLID body electric guitar is a solid body electric guitar, other than some sustain MORE than others.

The MAIN difference is in their PICKUPS & how their TONE POTS are CAPPED that produce their specific tone & voicing . . .

I don't care HOW GOOD a pickup is, if a guitar doesn't SUSTAIN -it DOESN'T SUSTAIN, and NO MATTER HOW GOOD a guitar SUSTAINS, if it pickups LACK BALLZ, it's NO BETTER ! ! !

Got your message, Mike. Sounds like you have experience with these little beasts. Because my Thinline is supposed to mix good sustain with a certain hollow body design, the TV Jones might produce a pleasant surprise. Thanks for your posts.
