Rich Barbera has a 'hand-out card' brochure with a nice photo of the pickup on the front and pickup details on the back.

I was looking for that pic on the internet, but I never found it. It's a great picture of how the pickup actually looks. Thanks for posting it, Ronnie!

Besides the Prismatone...the Barbera is a close second. It is well balanced. I'd compare the sound to a Prismatone and a Gibson pickup except it produces a more natural sound. Of course it's way better than a RMC or Fishman. Kirk had one on the new John Knowles thin body guitar and it sounded amazing. Thinking about going with the Barbera on my Signature model that Roger Stuckless is going to build for me. Hope to have it built next year. Were thinking a model name for it.....possibly "The Swarmin' Special". I told Roger that I want it to be 3" thick and to look like Jerry's AA Jones guitar with the Panormo headstock. We'll see what happens. When it's done I'll put pictures on the chetboard. I'd go with a Prismatone but already have it on two guitars and wanna try something a little different.

Phil,
Sounds like you have an exciting 'dream guitar' planned! I hope it meets all your expectations.

I have the Barbera and Prismatone II and they are both well balanced and do a good job for me. The Barbera has less string noise than most other acoustic pickups and really doesn't need a preamp unless you need more control of the eq. The Prismatone II does require a preamp, and I use the orginal Gibson preamp that is in my Studio guitar.

I still like John Buscarino's orginal Implant Pickup installed under the soundboard bridge of his Cabaret. It has the most natural sound especially on the bass strings. I left it in place when I had him install the Barbera. It is wired to the ring connection of the 1/4" endpin jack so I can use a stereo cable to play it if I desire. The two cannot be used together due to the alternate phasing design of the Barbera.

I also have the RMC and LR Baggs that work good for me in the guitars where they are mounted. The RMC in my Grand Concert Godin is well matched for that guitar due to it's double-duty as the sensor for the Roland guitar synthesizer.

Good luck with your guitar project!
