Hello everybody,
I don't have a clue, why a member of such a successful band like The Ventures neither has the savings nor the insurance status to cover medical bills on foreign shores. But it's obviously the case with Nokie Edwards who suffered from severe heart problems while being on tour in Japan a couple of weeks ago. He's now back home in Arizona, seemingly getting better everyday.
And he has to pay $ 125,000.00 to cover the costs of his hospital care in Japan.
Therefore a Charity Fund has been created, as published on his website.
No matter how he came into this difficult situation: Maybe some people around here are willing to contribute to the fund.

His insurance was no good in Japan, but they didn't know that until too late. Not many folks that I know can pay a 125,000 medical bill. I was glad to help him a little as he's such a good man, and great picker. EP

Eddie,
The Ventures are said to have sold more than 100 million albums; that's the background of my savings remark. Also, Nokie is a frequent Japan traveller; that's why the lack of sufficient health insurance surprises me.
But that wasn't the main goal of my statement. I really like his playing, the grace in his music and personal appearance, as far as I can tell from a distance. And I've only heard good things about Nokie from people who know him like you and Bresh and Brooks Robertson, for example. I think he's a treasure. And hopefully sharing the link to the online fund will help dealing with the mess he's in now.
Best,
Ingo

Re: Nokie Edwards Hospital Care Charity Fund
Hello again,
I would like to remind all of you of Nokie's Hospital Care Charity Fund.
It looks like the donations are coming in rather slow. After almost a month, just 66 people contributed to it. That's virtually nothing compared to the huge fan base The Ventures and Nokie had/have. At least US$ 13,600.00 have been raised so far. It still seems to be a long way to US$ 125,000.00, but it doesn't have to be if a lot of people give a little each.
Please share this link with friends and music lovers, and if you feel like, maybe you want to support Nokie personally, too.
