Awhile back I learned Chet's version of "Martha". I was just watching an old re-run of "Bonanza" and I heard this song being sung kind'a opera style in a foreign language. I was wondering if this song has an original title. I know sometimes Chet would hear a tune, maybe a classic, and record it under a new name he probably made up, like "Barnyard Shuffle". There are others too! Just wondering! "Martha'" is a great tune in the key of "A" and is worth learning, and pretty easy too!! Thanks, Steve

Here´s Chet´s very smooth version of Martha:

And a more true to the original version by Swedish tenor Jussi Björling in a live recording in Stockholm 1956.

Martha is an opera by Flotow, and this aria, M´Appari tutt´amor´, is about the only aria still perfomed from this work.
