The Chetboard

Guys with all do respect to everyone, you need to remember that Chet’s family read and monitor what’s being talked about on this board. Remember this is the “Chet Board” not the DP board. This board is meant to discuss Chet, his music, guitars, equipment etc. Any promotion of DP is very disrespectful to Chet and his family, not to mention DP claim(s) as being the greatest in many areas of guitar playing etc. In closing I would remind each of you to consider what your about to post and remember that this board is here because Chet’s family gave permission for it to be created, it’s purpose is to honor Chet!

I agree with Micah and believe this site at times has gotten "off-track." IMHP the intent of this site is to honor Chet and his abilities, talents and to share knowledge with other players who enjoy this style. I don't think the family would find anything wrong with sharing thoughts, "licks", memories, songs, tabs, etc. that are done to honor "Chet". However I do think that using this medium as a method of selling one's self, products or as a marketing tool is counter-productive to the intent previously specified. Let's get back on track guys and honor the memory of Chet and the respect of his family... "nuff" said.

Since there is a section on this board specifically for announcements or news, there's probably nothing wrong with someone letting us know that he/she posted a blog on his/her own website ( Tom or Doug please correct me if I'm wrong, ) but to write a blog about one's self on Chet's forum is not appropriate. It may even be approprpiate to occasionally make an announcement that someone else has written a blog on his/her own website, is in the studio, is going to be in concert somewhere, etc. But to constantly post about some artist other than Chet not only makes improper use of the Chetboard, it's probably not the ideal approach to P.R./ marketing anyway. Facebook and Twitter reaches many more people than the Chetboard. Besides, we already have our hero here on the Chetboard and it's Chet Atkins! No one's likely to make any new fans here by claiming to be the most creative, the most authentic, etc.
