Chet Atkins - 8 Classic Albums Vol. 2 CD-box

Postby Hendrik » Wed Oct 17, 2012 6:14 am

They released a volume 2 of the "8 Classic Albums" CD-box (now "eight" instead of "8" like on the first volume..). The box is digitally remastered and is from the European label "Real Gone Music".

The albums are:

• Hum and Strum Along with Chet Atkins
• Mister Guitar
• After the Riot at Newport
• Teensville
• The Other Chet Atkins
• Workshop
• Most Popular Guitar
• Christmas with Chet Atkins

I like the cool photo of Chet playing a prototype Super Axe onthe cover of this set! Also this is quite a bargain for 8 albums.
Thanks,

Got the box today. Sound quality is great! But it's just 4 CD's in a double jewel-case, without a booklet. So you don't know who wrote the songs and who played on it. Anyway, for 11 € it's quite cheap!

The website listed below is a pet project of mine that keeps getting put on the back burner (arrgh) but, nonetheless, you should be able to discover who wrote the songs and, in many cases, who played on the album (although, it is not always clear who actually played on each track), from what I have up there so far.

So I wonder how did this company go about the order of these discs and which albums. I am still looking for someone to put out the rarest ones even though I did see one I needed here........ I may post a list in a bit if I can find it. Glad to see this material in this type pack though. Nice for the next generation of pickers

What we really need is for the Bear Family to continue on from 1961. That is the definitive collection.

I agree Bill. I loved what they did with the 2 box sets that are available. I would gladly purchase any additional boxes that would become available. We should all start a petition here to send to them. Anybody want to head it up? I bet we have enough here to get it done. What do you think?

I wonder how many different companies put out albums like "the other chet atkins"? Or "Mr. Guitar". These albums are contained in so many different collections. I prefer the single releases though they are more expensive.
The "xxx...PLUS" releases are great, but hard to find (for example, "At home....plus"). There is a lot of bonus material on these versions.
