Does anyone else on here teach using skype? I've been doing it for a while and just had a nice story done by News channel 5 in Nashville.
I was teaching this particular student how to play Sukiyaki.. The young boy learning to read some notes and wipe out.
I've taught many of Chet's arrangements via the skype format.

Teaching guitar via Skype is the latest and greatest thing, I've wanted to do it as well. Rick Peckham with Berkley advised me that I should do it about 1 year ago.
Be forewarned though........for those teachers out there.....if you use paypal for accepting payment, there is a chance that paypal will shut your paypal account down permanently (permanently limited), and you will never be able to use paypal ever again.
I knew of a couple of guitar teachers that this happened to. The best method of payment is google checkout.
There's something in paypals user agreements (the fine print that you never read), that states something about this.
When you get shutdown by paypal....you have to start fresh all over again: new email, new mailing address, new phone number, change name slightly, different computer I.P. address, you can't use your computer at home to log into paypal ever again (I.P. address is linked to the limited old account)....EVERYTHING! You can't have anything linked with your old account. Just thought I'd warn people out there.
It stinks because paypal is the KING of payment methods on the internet....especially ebay. Paypal are big time crooks. If you keep money in a paypal account, technically it's not yours...it's theirs. If you ever get money in a paypal account...deposit into bank account immediately, never keep it in paypal account. If you get permanently limited they will keep your money. So if you have $500 in a paypal account for doing lessons and then you get your account shutdown....kiss that money goodbye. Paypal does this all the time.....this is how they make money plus by charging fees for using them.

Thats interesting. I've never heard of that and have been accepting payment since 2007 on the Skype lessons.
It may be because of business account or something to do with good standing. It's good to know that google checkout is another way to get payments. Do you know what there rates are for accepting cards over the web. If it's cheaper than paypal, I may consider a change.. esp if what you are saying is true.

Now if I can just get finale or sibelus and start notating stuff and selling arrangements, making a book or something to sell.
Maybe we can Skype sometime and you can share your experiences publishing books etc.
