Posted: Tue May 29, 2012 10:05 pmThanks, Gary. That's one of the better obits I've read about Doc. Tonight, I'm remembering Doc coming to CAAS and wanting to hear us play and play with us. That inscription on his statue, "Just one of the people," really hits home. Of course, we all loved his guitar playing but I remember his voice as well... talking or singing.

Posted: Tue May 29, 2012 11:11 pmI saw Doc play in 2003 at Purdue University. He was 80 or 81 at that point, and still filled the theater. He was picking great...maybe not as great as earlier on...but his voice was as strong as I have ever heard it. He was an American legend and icon.
