To answer your question Phil which is an intelligent question.

1. To make it in this world playing guitar you must have sound identity that when you hear it you know who it is like Chet (but no one will ever be that recognizable like Chet was) you know what I mean.

My Signature Model Heritage had a sound that to me was between a Gibson and a Gretsch. I DO NOT USE A AMP! I used a very expensive recording board by Roland called a 2480 which can give the same sound live as my recordings all done by going direct out. They stoped making them in 07, but still service the units and you can get a good one on Ebay, but be careful many people take the sound cards and hard drives out and try to sell them and they are not proprietary to Roland anymore. The learning curve on these boards are not easy, but its well worth it. Especially for me. It took about 2 months before it started to sound like something and I always wrote down my setting and learned allot about recording which is a must to get a good sound quality. The Hrw's pickups are basically schaller pickups like used in the 50's that are much hotter from my Heritage.

Answer to your question correctly Phil:

1.I'm playing live to backing recorded tracks that were used when I first created them so yes the instrumentation and tempo and bpm's are the same and also with Snowbird.

2. The same settings I used for my Heritage will not work with my 59 Gretsch to sounded like my signature sound I needed to retain it, because its part of my identity. First the superton pickup has a bold and full strong broadband punch to it.

Superton Bridge: Blades are milled with a radius for superior string-to-string balance.
DC Resistance: somewhere around 4.5k to 4.8K | Inductance: 3.0h to 3.5H

Supertron Neck: flat blades to keep the tone clear and warm.
DC Resistance: 3.7 to 4.0K | Inductance: 2.55H....? not really sure.

3. You can't take fatter sound and change it into a different tone and make it sparkle with much sustain, you can however take thinner sound like the back pick up and build it back up and make it sound much sweeter and make it as close as I can come to what I was getting with my Heritage.

4.Phil I'm not plugged into a amp or mic it. In this case I always go direct and from original sound the back pickup up gets we add so much more and it took hours of a big studio massaging to get sound that was like with a heritage and I also was in a million dollar studio with some the best EQ and pre amps.

5. I gave you all the settings of what all my trial and error can do of many hours in the beginning of the video playing Pickin Our Way. I relearned the tune and I always try to remember and play what I recorded and it will sound the same live with a proper delivery mostly Bose speakers are the best.Part of it is in someones finger as well.

6. I also use a cathedral reverb which helps with sustain settings are

1. Reverb :Type /Plate

2. Time: 4.0s

3. Pre Dly: 50ms

4. Density: 15

5. HPF: 50hz

6. LPF: 9.5hz

7. Fx Level: 92

8. Compression 3.2 ratio to 1

You will not get that sound by plugging your guitar to amp and putting your toggle down and get anything like what you are hearing on my video.

9. We are also taking that signal and spitting it into stereo and pan it about 20% left and right

Phil get a Roland 2480 and you will see and hear a great big difference in the sound of your gent or any electric guitar! Much more detail is also available if you would like...tks for now dp

Isn't that Bridge pickup a Filtertron and not a Supertron..........how can you mill the blades on a Filtertron when it has adjustment screws?

Phil I'm sorry you misunderstood me. As I said in an earlier post that 2 supertrons pickups were better for live concerts you can get more compression without losing natural dynamics and will give you a more even sustain. I never said I had a supertron bridge pickup but I will! As suggested in my earlier post. I did said you can take a thin sound and massage it to a better more sweeter tone than taking a full sound with allot of punch to it (which is what a supertron pick up does at least to me) and trying to alter that. Its always better to start thin and work your way up. (That's why the back pickup is predominant w/ my 59 ) also that's one of the reason why you should always mix and master at low volumes instead of a loud volume. The timber of the tone is not exaggerated by the loud volume and can fool you in final mastering.

2 supertrons in live shows will also fill the speakers more, and as you know everything is more bottom heavy live.
Phil, I say this w/deep respect to you now,, I think your great player and you like a teacher for all in a way. I remember watching you play (Georgy Girl song) at the time I wanted to relearn that tune and I didn't have a record player like years ago. So I watch Phil Hunt play it on youtube I believe, and it all came back to me so when I saw you play that I said hmmmm....where did this guy come from...?

Bottom line it Phil...Lets see .....
If I plug in my 59 into a music man for example my 59 guitar will sounded like More of that Guitar Country sound which is great ,BTW: that's my favorite album of Chet's! It's not good for me trying to make a living because its sounds to close to Chet guitar which I know that is what it is suppose to do as being a very close replica. But that guitar it self is superior to anything I've ever played! Phil if you like my sound I'm getting..? Get a Roland 2480 dvd and you will see a dramatic difference than a amp or a small mixer in sound....tks ...dp
