I have the Mel Bay book Chet Atkins Off the Record and, just acquired the very hard to find copy that has Winter Walkin' and Yakety Ace.

Anyway, there is a tune in the book "Me and Merle" that I can't find a recording of anywhere.
Did Chet ever record this tune and if so, what album is it on.
Since the title of the book is "Off the Record," I would assume Tommy Flint transcribed the tune from a recording.

Well, for starters, name that tune. And maybe someone who frequents this site will be able to help you.

The name of the book is Chet Atkins "off the record" from Mel Bay Publications

The name of the tune is "Me and Merle" and Chet is credited as the composer.
"Me and Merle" is the only only tune in the book that does not state which album it is from.

All of my Internet searches for information about this particular tune have come up empty.
I'm hoping someone on the forum can help.

The reissue of the book has a pic of chet flipped so it looks like he is playing left handed.

I own a copy of the book, and I could never figure out why those two extra tunes were listed on the cover, but were not in the book! I just scratched my head.

I felt a little ripped-off, lol. It was always a mystery to me.

I have not been able to find a recording by Chet. The only thing I have found is a video of someone else playing it; nice tune.

I recall hearing this song. The "Merle" referred to is Chet's daughter Merle. The recording is a song that they did together, with Merle singing, when she was a small child. I heard it some years back on You Tube if I recall correctly. I have not been able to find it again.

When it comes to finding rare Chet recordings on YouTube, between me and David Simmons, not to pat myself on the back, but we are the greatest of all time!

But I have never seen the tune you mentioned.
