Chet Atkins and Tony Mottola

I bought a couple of Tony Mottola albums way back. His music (along with some of Chet's) was played on Muzak (elevator music). He called himself a "melody man" and I think Chet might have called himself that too. I admired the both of them but mostly bought Chet Atkins albums in those days. I wonder if the two ever met or spoke together. Maybe even talked about doing an album together. I of course would have bought it right away (full retail even). Jazz and improvising is great but I really like melody and using chords, rolls and other techniques to bring it out.

Tony Mottola has always impressed me. I think he was Frank Sinatra's guitar player for some time and remember a TV show where he accompanied Frank on "Send in the Clowns". There are quite a few videos of him playing standards on UTube, all worthy of a view. I'm sure Chet and Tony would have produced a monstrous LP had they got together.

Regards
Mike
