Rande, thanks for editing and sharing these videos of Tommy. Everything seems so effortless for him. In addition to natural talent, it reflects an extraordinary degree of self discipline in the hands. LMark

Yes LMark, I agree that it looked effortless for Tommy but I can also tell you that he said that playing new songs were not that physically difficult for him. He told me that his biggest challenge was to keep everything straight in his mind until after he had run through it many times. That seems to be true for many of us!

Rande, I suppose I wasn't thinking about self-discipline from the angle you brought out. What you point out is crucial--the mental discipline. To be able to visualize the placement of each finger for each note on both right and left hands takes a lot of focus and energy. I hadn't really thought about that kind of discipline for a while. Thanks for bringing it up! LMark

LMark, I spend a lot of my driving time, and much of the time without a guitar in my hands, visualizing where my fingers would be when I'm working on an arrangement. It helps my actual practice sessions to be more productive.
