And Chet was very content to just strum simple rhythm and let Bill take the spotlight, which was typical of Chet’s humbleness.

I remember seeing pictures of Bill Monroe's mandolin before this repair. It was basically destroyed by an angry woman with fireplace poker, and they were able to meticulously repair it. Looked like Chet may have been using a flat pick there. I know he usually had a thumbpick in his pocket, but maybe not that time.

What a thrill for the Gibson employees present. To see both Bill Monroe and Chet Atkins doing an impromptu performance.

What surprised me the most was to see Chet choosing to STRUM his accompaniment!
