Does anyone have any idea when this might have been taken?

I would guess very late 70's or early 80's. I know that Steve began with Chet in the late 70's and I saw him being introduced to the public in 1980, while on stage with Chet and he looked about like what I see in this picture. I can only guess what Glen looked like then.

Chet is holding a CE, which would put it some time in the 1980's. If I was guessing, I would say 1984-1987. Steve sure looks very young, so I may be a little off.

Richard, look closer, that's a hollow acoustic classical guitar that Chet is holding. You can see a paper label inside. The cutaway is shaped different than a CE too. Maybe someone on here can tell us what brand of classical it is.

Are you sure that's a CE Chet's holding, Richard? I'm not as knowledgeable as many others about the CE, but the shape of that cutaway seems wrong for a CE to me.

Steve looks like he is holding one of his Takamine signature models. Not sure when he started playing those guitars, but that might be a clue to how late the date would be. The classical that Chet is holding looks like a Takamine w/cutaway (like one that I bought in the mid-'90s). It may be one of Steve's, but who knows?

I think this is more around 1990.

You are both right. It is a hollow body acoustic.
