Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Book

I just spotted this on Ebay for a good price:

Every Chet fan needs a copy of this book. If I didn't already have one I would buy it.

Thanks for the heads up! I just bought it. I only have an electronic copy, but now I will have the real thing to re-read and treasure.

My wife & I bought a copy of Country Gentleman for my father not long after the book came out, probably in the spring of '75. Chet was at a Knoxville book store, signing copies. When my wife approached Chet and told him dad had been a fan since Chet's days on the Mid-Day Merry-Go-Round, just down Gay Street from the book store, he talked with her 5 to 10 minutes about his start in East Tennessee, as there were few, if anyone else, awaiting to buy the book and have it signed. I will always remember my wife saying when she came home with book, "he is indeed a gentleman." In the front of the book, in that unmistakable handwriting, Chet wrote, "To (dad's name). Happy Father's Day. Chet Atkins." Shortly after dad's death, mother passed the book back to us. It's one of my proudest possessions.

Where did you get an electronic copy? I would love to read this book. Unfortunately, the print edition isn't available in Germany.

I bought a paperback copy of this book in the early 80's and read the entire thing and it brought tears to my eyes. I somehow lost it during a number of moves but I found a hard copy a few years ago and will never lose track of it!

It's available from Amazon. Not cheap exactly:

Whenever I want to read it (again), I take it out from a local library that luckily still has a copy!
