Does anyone know if there is another recorded 'live' performance of "Villa" by Chet anywhere ? Also, what album was this tune from ? Went looking for this tune in my mp3 library of Chet stuff and can't find the studio version on any that I have.

There was a nice version on "Relaxing With Chet".

I haven't had a chance to compare these two albums in a long while, but as I remember them they were pretty much the same, except that there were some alternate versions of the same tunes--I always assumed that they were probably alternate takes that were recorded at much the same time and one take appeared on one album, another on the other.

Going by memory, I think the version on Chet Atkins At Home is played with standard bass strings while the version on Relaxin' With Chet has the octabass bass strings.

Jeff, you may be right about the one album being "octabass" and the other not. However, if that's the case, it's the other way around: the At Home has the octabass.

The 'At Home' version is the 'normal' one. 'Relaxin' With Chet' is the Octobass. Was wondering if there was another 'youtube' performance of this tune by chance.

The "At Home" album featured Chet's "invisible bass player", which is what I assumed was meant by the reference to "octabass".
