Discussion of history's greatest guitar player.

RIP Paul Yandell

Postby bill raymond » Tue Nov 22, 2011 12:42 pm

I just received an email from Craig Dobbins with the news that Paul has passed away. I never met Paul, but am grateful for his participation and contributions to the Chetboard as well as, of course, his accomplishments as a guitarist and Chet's friend/accompanist (Chet often referred to him, jokingly, as his "accomplice"). RIP Paul, I'm sorry to see you go.

Indeed, what a huge loss. Paul's contribution to the art of fingerstyle cannot be underestimated. Truly immense. I pray his departure will be as wonderful as his life was on earth, and that he return with his compadres, Chet and Jerry, to bring us all joy and inspiration in the way that only they could do, to delight the hearts and souls of us common mortals for untold generations. New names, new faces, but we'll know their magic touch and their kind hearts.

Truly some sad news to hear. Paul was a top notch guitarist in every meaning of the word. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Yandell family at this very hard time. Paul responded to me a couple of times by email after reading my posts here on the Chet Board and helped me with some Tech guitar issues I was having with my Nashville Classic 6122-1959 guitar. This guitar without his wisdom and his insight and personal drive in Chet's memorey would not have ever happened. I will always be grateful to Mr. Yandell for giving us the closest guitar to the master guitarist Mr. Chet Atkins that we will ever play on and own. He was just a pure class person and one hell of a picker and most of all a humble good fellow man . Rest In Peace Paul. Joe
