I loved his playing and got to see him perform about 10 years ago now in SOCAL.

Yes, this was sad news. With the exception of a few years right after we lost Chet, I've been attending the CAAS convention since 1991 and Thom has been the traditional opening act that we've all expected. It will feel differently this year and I suspect that there will be a tribute to him of some sort, just like they did for Jerry, Paul, and Buster.
