Chet's Playing of Double Strings?

Postby Bryan B. » Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:17 am

Hi all,

I have been listening to Chet's "Progressive Pickin'" album, and the song "So Rare". This is very much a jazz album and something different from Chet's previous work.

Can someone describe to me how Chet is playing what sounds like double strings in the intro? I am trying to play it but it is hard to tell if I am doing it right...

Thank you

Bryan

Hey Bryan,
He was playing octaves. If I remember; F on the D string played with F on the B string up to Bb on the G string with Bb on the E string etc. Thumb and index or sweep through with the thumbpick.
