Richard Could Put Classical Guitarist To Shame

Postby Doug Working » Fri Sep 07, 2018 7:45 pm

I can't help checking out new stuff by Richard. The man jaw drops me!

I've watched a lot of classical guitarists through the years, and many of them can play some freakin' hard pieces, that are about ten light years ahead of where I'll ever be, but after watching this, I'm convinced that Richard could put any one of them to shame and blow them out of the water! And I mean he could make them pretty green with envy. And he could do it with a little bit of ragtime!!

Why on earth does not Richard get on AGT? He could steal the show!!

Doug, I don't believe that Richard would be successful on AGT because their audiences are expecting a high level of entertainment and having their minds blown with what they hear AND see! He blows the minds of those of us who are devoted fingerstyle guitarists but the average listener isn't effected in the same way. If you've ever been to one of his concerts, his audiences are usually quite small, which illustrates my point.

"America's Got Talent", Rich. I've never seen an instrumentalist as a contestant. AGT's popularity has probably overtaken "American Idol"!

They have an instrumentalist this year. The guy plays electric violin. And he's actually quite amazing, considering he has a disease that affects the nerves in his finger tips so that he can't feel anything.

But he plays the fire out of that violin!

Sorry Doug, I haven't been keeping up with AGT continuously. I'm almost certain that this violinist is using a lot of showmanship and that his disease will be a factor in the judging.

Yes, he is EXTREMELY amazing with tons of showmanship, but he has chops out the wazoola on the thing. Like Richard, started on his instrument as a very small boy.
