I only knew him as one of the board guys...never a harsh word... a country gentleman...

We first met Pa through the picking room, then later at the CAAS convention. Pa was a joy to be around, always quick with an encouraging word, and always happy to speak up for the Lord Jesus. My heart goes out to his family; may God comfort them.

thanks for letting us know. i'm so sorry to hear this, but as we all know, your dad is in a better place. it was great to see him with you, his family at caas this year. what a wonderful man who will be so missed here.
i don't remember who was taking the pictures outside at caas, but if you come across the one with pa holding my 9 string, i'd love a copy. he was so happy to be there and was surrounded by so much love.

I am very sorry to hear this news Greg, what a great guy your dad was. Like many folks I met Jim at CAAS in Nashville and looked forward to chatting and pickin' with him every year. We picked together quite a few times, he always made you feel at ease. What a friendly and helpful friend he was to so many Chet pickers. I sure will miss him.

Jim and Elaine made some visits down to Gilmer, TX for Texas Fingerstyle Guitar Assoc. get-togethers, and that's where I originally met them. Jim was one of the finest folks I've ever met and a very good picker who had a love and appreciation for other guitar pickers and their music. As has already been mentioned, he will be greatly missed by the community of thumb and fingerstyle guitar players. RIP, Pa Cobble!
